Suzanne Collins, writer of the Hunger Games Trilogy has switched gears of sorts in her new project. From a dystopian society to modern day still on the subject of war but in a different context. Part biography and part fiction chronicling her own family's experience with war. In honor of the service men in her family-her father, grandfather, and uncle.
The book is said to feature illustrations inspired from actual members of her own family, with real names etc.. But don't fret Hunger Games fans, she vows her writing will still appeal to an YA audience.
Ms Collins was quoted to have said “I specifically want to do this book, one as a sort of memory piece kind of honoring that year for my family, and two, because I know so many children are experiencing it right now — having deployed parents. And it’s a way I would like to try and communicate my own experience to them.”
