It's been three years since the devastating accident ... three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.
Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Julliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future - and each other.

First Look: I follow Aldous into the studio and enter a sound proof booth where it's just me and a row of guitars. On the other side of the glass sit the producer, Stim, and the sound engineers. Aldous joins them. "Okay, Adam," says Stim, "one more track on the bridge and the chorus. Just to make that hook that more  sticky. We'll play with the vocals in the mixing."

Review:

I loved and hated this book equally for many reasons. Gayle Forman's writing is amazing I wish I could write like her. I must say though I preferred her writing from Mia's prospective. I wasn't a fan of Adam's P.O.V. Is it just me or even in a coma Mia was more interesting than Adam, thoughts and all?
Most of the book he spends whining about being dumped by Mia and what an awful mess his life has become. What a mess, indeed because he's not the Adam we remember from If I Stay. This Adam is promiscuous, addicted to anxiety drugs, and has completely lost his joy for music he's just going through the motions like a good boy. I do wish Bryn and Adam's story was more developed. To strengthen the conflict and all his decisions would have had more weight to it. Even his relationship with the band is glossed over. I had hoped some realistic conclusion would have been written.

Okay enough negative on to the gushing of love. Besides a few cracks. Dialogue was witty intelligent, Adam's character was fully formed faults and all. It was as an honest look at some one's inner thoughts. As close to being inside a person's head as you can get without getting weird. I loved how she made me turn on Mia at one point I hated her guts. That's saying a lot since she's not real. Pacing was agonizingly slow at times but worth it. I think that's just a symptom of all the paranormal romances I been reading lately their pace is faster. The ending was realistic and wonderfully happy. So I gave Where She Went a 4 out of 5.

Rating: 14+ , (There is mention of prescription drugs).

  1. If I Stay is next on my TBR pile and then I'm hitting this one, seems like a nice book.
I'm glad you point out some of the not so great things about this book, since I've seen glowing reviews everywhere else, it relaxes me to know this book isn't perfect.

    :D
