Synopsis
Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.
She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very...different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.
Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.

First look: "Are you sure you want to do this, Miss Selkirk?"
"It's Ari. And, yes, Dr. Giroux." I gave the man seated across from me an encouraging nod. "I didn't come all this way to give up now. I want to know." What I wanted was to get this over with and do something, anything, with my hands, but instead I laid them flat on the tabletop. Very still. Very calm.
Review:
Action starts right from the first chapter, like a roller coaster it dips and climbs. The pacing slows immediately after, which is a shame because the initial action hooks you in. Then you're waiting for the action to pick up again. Like all paranormal romances ,the paranormals are unearthly beautiful and the monsters are grotesque. Characters are believable, the writing bridges the mythology theme well with reality very seamlessly. There is enough balance to suspend the story. Romance is present but its not really explored it's just a given that Sebastian and Ari will end up together.
I really wanted to like this book because the plot was interesting. Just when I was about to give up on this book the last three chapters saves it the revaluation of Ari family curse. Is amazing is all I can say its worth the read to find out. You have all these questions and which motivates you to keep reading. My emotions were everywhere. Mostly I hated Athena's guts I've read books in which her character appears she always cruel, petty, and a bitch. I can't wait till someone offs her. AparentlyAri is the only thing she fears because she's a god killer. Hightlight to read.
What I didn't like was the pace. There was no build up to Athena's appearance that you almost don't notice it until you're half way into it. This a foundation book and as a debut it was pretty good. She still had me at the end and I will read book 2. I can only hope its better and better. I recommend this book to the teenage crowd middle grades the language is too mature, 16 + there is a lot of cursing. I give Darkness Becomes Her a strong three and a half. The reason I couldn't give it a four was the middle the pace was so slow. And I don know if everyone will be able to get past. To get it the reward at the end.
Rating: 16+ | Cursing | Mild violence.

Thanks for the honest review.
